What you can trade in

We can't take it
- Leased equipment that belongs to a leasing company.
- Rented equipment you pay for monthly in a contract.
- Any equipment your processor expects you to return.
Leasing or renting your current machine? You can still switch and still get a new machine. We just can't take the old machine, and switching to us doesn't cancel your lease. Return it according to your agreement with the leasing company.
Before you hand over your old machine
Do these after your new machine is up and running, so you never miss a sale.
- Settle your final batch on the old machine so every transaction gets paid out.
- Remove any SIM card, receipt paper, and personal accounts from the device.
- Check your current contract for cancellation fees or lease terms before you give notice.
- Cancel your old processing service. Switching to us doesn't end your current agreement automatically.
Every machine we collect goes to a professional payment-equipment refurbishment partner that erases or re-encrypts it, then refurbishes or responsibly recycles it.

Is the machine really free?
Yes. There's no charge for the machine and no equipment lease. It's included when you open a new merchant account with us, your business runs $20K or more a month in card sales, and you keep your account open for 36 months. After 36 months, the machine is yours to keep.
Is it new or refurbished?
Brand new, programmed for your account before it reaches you.
What if I close my account early?
If your account closes before 36 months, return the machine in working condition within 30 days, or pay a $499 early cancellation fee.
My old machine doesn't work. Can I still trade it in?
Yes. Any brand, any condition, including cracked screens and machines that won't turn on.
What if my current machine is leased?
You still qualify for the free machine. We can't accept the leased machine because it belongs to the leasing company, and switching to us doesn't end your lease. Check your lease terms before you cancel anything.
What happens to my old machine?
It goes to our professional refurbishment partner, which erases or re-encrypts it, then refurbishes or recycles it. You don't receive payment for the old machine; the new machine is your trade-in value.
Do I have to cancel my current processor?
Yes, and we recommend doing it after your new machine is taking payments. You're responsible for any fees your current provider charges to cancel, so check your contract first.
What if my sales drop below $20K later?
You qualify based on the statements you send when you apply. After that, your account just needs to stay open and processing for the 36-month term.
Trade-in program terms
Everything, in simple plain language.
- The offer. Merchant Advisory Services ("MAS," "we") provides one new payment terminal (retail value $499) at no charge to qualifying businesses that open a new merchant processing account with us. Applications must be received by 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time on November 20, 2026. Promo code FALL26.
- Who qualifies. New merchant accounts only. Your business must show average card sales of $20,000 or more per month on recent processing statements. All accounts are subject to underwriting approval, and we may decline any application. Limit one free terminal per business, determined by federal tax ID.
- Processing term. The free terminal requires a 36-month merchant processing agreement. Your account must remain open, in good standing, and actively processing card payments for the full term.
- Who owns the machine. The machine remains property of Merchant Advisory Services during the 36-month term. After 36 consecutive months of processing with an account in good standing, ownership transfers to you at no cost.
- Early cancellation. If your account closes for any reason before the end of the 36-month term, you must either return the machine, in working condition with its charger, within 30 days of closing, or pay a $499 early cancellation fee.
- Eligible trade-in equipment. You may trade in any card terminal, PIN pad, or POS device of any brand and in any condition, including non-working equipment, provided you own it outright. We don't accept leased equipment, rented equipment, or equipment owned by another processor or provider. By trading in a device, you confirm you have the right to transfer it. A trade-in is not required to receive the free machine.
- Transfer of your old device. When you hand over a trade-in device, it becomes property of Merchant Advisory Services. No cash, credit, or other payment is provided for it. We may have it refurbished, resold, or recycled by third-party partners.
- Your data. Before handing over a device, settle your final batch and remove any SIM card and personal accounts. Our refurbishment partner erases or re-encrypts every device it receives. We aren't responsible for information you leave on a device after you hand it over.
- Your current provider. You are responsible for ending any agreement with your current processor, POS provider, or equipment leasing company, including any cancellation fees, lease payments, or equipment returns they require. Opening an account with Merchant Advisory Services doesn't cancel those agreements.
- Warranty and repairs. Your new machine will include a manufacturer's warranty. Outside the warranty, we can arrange repairs through our repair partner, and we'll quote the price before any work begins. Loss, theft, liquid damage, and physical damage aren't covered.
- Changes to this program. We may change or end this program for new applicants at any time. Changes won't affect merchants who have already been approved. This offer can't be combined with other equipment promotions and is void where prohibited.
- Your merchant agreement. These terms are in addition to your merchant processing agreement.
